Lt. Dan's Story
Lieutenant Dan

"Lieutenant Dan, you got new legs!"

Some dogs lose their trust in people after being hurt.

Lieutenant Dan never did.

He survived life on the streets, only to be shot in the leg by someone who saw his life as disposable. Thankfully, his foster mom rushed to save him and fought to get him the care he desperately needed. Surgery gave him a second chance, but his "magic leg" will never be 100%.

The remarkable thing isn't his recovery.

It's that after everything he's endured, Lt. Dan still believes every person he meets could be his new best friend.

At around 2 years old and 50 pounds, this sweet, goofy boy greets everyone with a wagging tail and hopeful eyes. He wants nothing more than to be included, loved, and part of a family. His surgeon couldn't believe that a dog who had suffered so much cruelty could still be this affectionate, trusting, and full of joy.

Lt. Dan thrives with routine and continues to gain confidence every day. He's kennel trained, enjoys learning, and would love a moderately active family that will take him on walks, keep his mind busy, and continue helping him grow while being mindful of his leg. He enjoys playing with other dogs and would love a furry friend to share adventures with.

He doesn't know he's different.

He doesn't feel sorry for himself.

He wakes up every morning excited to love, play, and make the most of the life he almost didn't have.

All he's asking is for someone to look past the wobble in his leg and see the perfect heart behind it.

Please help us find Lieutenant Dan the happy ending he has waited so long for. Share his story—you never know who might be looking for a dog just like him.

Texas Adoption Application:
https://form.jotform.com/CLMR/TXAdoptApp
