Available for adoption…..Lovey. (Written by her finders)Lovey is a brindle Boxer mix who we think is 8+ yrs old. She showed up as a stray looking very thin, very tired, & with skin issues infected from bad case of fleas. She has now been treated for fleas, vaccinated, & wound nearly completely healed and is now elegantly growing her hair back in that spot. She is an absolute sweet heart & loving companion (as her name indicates). She CANNOT get enough love, affection, & attention. While we wouldn't say she's "dog aggressive", she would probably be happiest in a home where she is the only pet. She seemed fine with some dogs here at the shelter, but reacts to dominate alpha dogs. Lovey loves being in the car, & definitely feels she deserves, as the queen she is, to sit in front, practically on the dash. She's the ultimate passenger seat driver. She loves a good, comfy bed. She is very vocal when she wants attention or needs to go out. It's a funny, frantic sounding whine. If you tell her to hush & lay down, she will (She's just very excited for attention), unless she needs to go out. She's very good about telling you. She LOVES to be outside and enjoys the sunshine. Lovey seems to love EVERYONE she meets, pretending to be tough, with a growl, initially, but she's not as tough as she thinks she is, because she immediately turns to cuddles as soon as she sniffs the person. I haven't seen a single person she doesn't immediately take to, & gets very upset when they walk away from her wanting to be center of attention. She is housebroken, & listens very well to "sit", "stay", & "lay down". She even does this ADORABLE thing when she is "sitting", excitedly, where she sits on her hind legs & holds her front paws in front of her. It is too cute. After getting her vaccinations, antibiotics, & 30 day flea treatment, Lovey has been given a clean bill of health & is believed to be spayed (she has a scar that indicates that she is). Please do not let her age fool you. She has no idea she is considered old & has no plans to grow old gracefully. We have nicknamed her Betty White, with all her energy you would think she is 3 yrs old!! She has an abundance of energy & curiosity. If you are looking for the perfect, lovable, active, eager to please & always up for a cuddle & kisses companion, I promise you, Lovey is it.
