My name is LOUIS ZAMPERINI! Like my namesake the incredible WWII veteran, I have faced immense hardship but have the spirit of a survivor! You see, for five years I was tied up outside and taunted by people. As you can imagine, this has made me wary of strangers. I am an extremely handsome 7+yr old, 38lb, Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix with a heart of gold! My foster mom, our rescue director, has been working with me and says she can see the incredible dog I am once I feel safe. I just need time to trust but once I do, I'm full of love! I'm a rough and tumble player that loves other dogs with a similar play style. My adopter will need to be patient, experienced with Australian Cattle Dogs, and willing to give me the time and space I need to blossom. A home without cats or children would be best. Tails & Trails Rescue's Adoption Policy

All of our dogs are in foster homes or boarding and are seen by appointment only with approved applicants. Online Adoption Applications can be found at tailsandtrails.org. Once approved, a Meet and Greet appointment will be set with the dog or dogs or your choice. Our adoption fees include all vaccinations including rabies, boosters/dewormer as needed, spay/neuter, heartworm test, microchipping and are as follows: Puppies under 1 year $375.00 Adults 1+ $300.00 We do offer a Senior to Senior discount for our senior dogs adopted by a senior citizen. Friendly Reminders: **If dogs currently reside in the home, they must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations and on Heartworm preventative. If you have cats in the home the cat must be up to date on the rabies vaccine. Veterinarian information must be provided on the application as we do contact them for a reference. **If the residence is rented, we must obtain written Landlord approval disclosing breed or weight restrictions either in the form of a copy of the lease showing the pet agreement or personal note that includes the landlord name, address and phone number. These should be emailed to info@tailsandtrails.org **The application requires 2 personal, non-relative references. Please provide accurate email addresses as that seems to be the most efficient form of contact and advise them they will be hearing from us soon.
