Unfortunately, his guardian was working very long hours, and had to leave him at home by himself much too long. She realized that it would be best for Louis if he could be with a family who was home most of the time so he can get plenty of attention and TLC.<br/><br/>Louis is a loving little boy, but he is shy at first and takes a while to adapt to new people and surroundings. He is fairly well housetrained, but will need an adopter who will take him out regularly and on a schedule. He currently sleeps in a crate at his foster home. but we feel he would love to be invited to join his new parents in 'the big bed'. Louis has a fenced yard at his foster home, and loves running around and exploring with the other foster dogs. He also walks very well on a leash and enjoys going for long walks.<br/><br/>We are looking for a family for Louis where he will have companionship during the day, and will not be left at home alone while the family is at work. Either someone who works from home or a young and active retiree would be perfect for this little boy. Louis walks well on a leash and rides well in the car, so hopefully he'll be able to go on many long walks and adventures with his new family!<br/><br/>Since Louis seems to enjoy the companionship of other dogs, we feel he will do well in a home with another dog to 'show him the ropes'. We don't know about cats. A fenced yard for him to run and play and to 'potty' is also preferable, but not necessary.<br/><br/>Louis is considered a high-maintenance little guy. With his beautiful white coat, he needs to go every 6 weeks to a groomer, and needs frequent brushing and maintenance at home. Please consider these facts before thinking about adopting a high-maintenance breed like Louis.<br/><br/>Louis is a very healthy young boy! He has been neutered and is current on his Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines. He will soon be tested for Heartworms and started on Heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention.<br/><br/>Louis's adoption fee is $450.00. We accept checks or cash for adoption fees... sorry, we do not take cards.<br/><br/>Louis is a loving, active, and smart little boy who deserves only the best home and family! The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home!<br/><br/>Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
