LOUIE---Adoption pending's Story

DOB: April 4, 2021
Weight: 4 pounds
Location: Richmond Hill, ON
Adoption Donation: $675

Meet little Louie, nickname Loulou. He dreams that he’s a large dog born into a tiny Chihuahua body, and he has a big personality and bark to match.

Louie came into our care when the human who adored him had to go into a nursing home. Because Louie is a happy boy and has had so much love in his life, he adapted quickly to his foster home. Within an hour of arriving he was playing with his toys, tossing his elephant and possum in the air and taking possession of the resident chis’ beds.

Besides cuddling with his human, Louie loves to play games such as “catch me if you can,” “slay the stuffie,” “hide and seek under the blanket,” “scare the squirrels” and “who can bark the loudest?”

Going for walks on leash is also one of Louie’s favourite things, and he is being trained to walk nicely without pulling. His habit of barking at other dogs on walks must also be controlled. He is friendly with other chis in the foster home, but he considers himself the alpha dog and is possessive of his human. This behaviour leads us to believe that he would do best as an only dog in an adult-only forever home with a dog-savvy adopter.

Louie is house-trained (outside) and will go to the door to tell you when he needs to go. He needs a home with a securely fenced yard where he can safely roam around. A condo or apartment is definitely not appropriate for him, so please apply only if you live in a house where no one will be disturbed by Louie’s barking. No cats, please.

Louie needs an adopter who is home with him most of the time and understands his physical and mental needs in order to establish Louie’s place in the pack and deal with his insecurities.

Louie has had a wellness exam and a routine heartworm test (negative). He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. The cause of the alopecia on Louie’s underside is unknown, but it doesn’t seem to bother him.

If you are interested in adopting Louie and you fit all of this description of his ideal forever home, please fill out an adoption application. You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for him or any of our foster dogs. Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our foster dogs by making a cash donation towards their care.
