Louie's Story

Adoptable Mix Louie is around 6 years old and 8 pounds. Little Louie was terrified in the shelter – shaking, shut down, and completely overwhelmed. With his tiny size and some heart concerns, he didn’t stand a chance there… so we pulled him to give him the second chance he deserves. 💔

Now Louie is safe, decompressing, and showing us what a loving, loyal little boy he really is. All he needs now is his forever family.

He enjoys sunshine, park walks, exploring new smells, and being carried around like the tiny king he is. 👑

🐶 Personality & Behavior
– Good on walks
– Barks at people on walks or in the car (but not excessively)
– House trained
– Great on a leash
– No separation anxiety
– No food aggression
– Confident once he warms up
– Not afraid of thunder or loud noises
– Loves car rides… but may try to “help” drive 😆
– Sleeps near your bed but would happily sleep with you if allowed

🐕 Other Dogs, Kids & Cats
– Dogs: Yes, with slow introductions. He warmed up well to his foster’s 36 lb dog after some initial grumbles.
– Big dogs: Likely fine with proper space and gradual intro.
– Cats: Unknown.
– Kids: Best with older, dog-savvy kids who understand his need for space while he adjusts.

🏡 Crate / Home Habits
Louie wasn’t crated in his past foster, but:
– Did great in a carrier and crate at the vet
– Even chose to nap in the other dog’s crate
While he absolutely can be crate trained, we believe Louie enjoys free roam of his house more than being in a crate!

Vetting and Medical
In our care, Louie has received a vet check. He has a heart condition that’s manageable with daily medication. He will need vet checkups every 3 months along with weight monitoring to adjust dosage (if needed). We will guide his adopter on everything he needs to thrive!

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Louie can be reactive at first and needs someone who understands chihuahua quirks. He may growl, bark, or ask for space but once he trusts you, he becomes your little shadow and snuggle buddy. Louie is ready for his forever home. He just needs someone willing to give him the time, love, and care he’s been waiting for. Adoption Fee: $250.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.

Under 1 $350
1-3 years $300
4-7 years $250
8-10 years $200
Over 10 $150
Special Needs $150
