Lou's Story

Lou is a very sweet dog and wants to please. He is listed as a medical dog and has had seizures. Don’t let that stop you from considering him. We have him on medication and has gone almost 6 weeks seizure free. He was having one every 2 weeks, so this is a milestone. The new adopter will have to always get his Phenobarbital on time and never run out of skip doses. He will also need to be tested for Pheno levels and organ function every six months and it can not be skipped. Lou is exempted from vaccines and flea/tick medications at this time. He is young and puppyish, so he will pick up the wrong things and chew on them, but he is very easily corrected. He is always trying to get your approval with eye contact as if he is asking "is this ok?" Just a "no" will stop him in his tracks. He loves pets and cuddles and is very social with people and dogs. He is great with my barn cats and they love him. He would really enjoy another dog to help him build confidence and play with, but he would be fine alone too, once he is comfortable. He knows sit and down, but would benefit from obedience training that would also help his confidence. He would also do very well at daycare. He is a gentle player, but can really ramp it up if another dog likes to rough house. The seizure medication has caused a couple of urination accidents but this only occurs at the start of meds and when meds are tweeted and the need to go will go away in a week or two. He goes to work with me at a vet clinic and does wonderfully. Everyone there loves him. He rides perfectly in the car in a soft-sided crate. I would not recommend an apartment setting because he does bark (when in crate too long or he hears a noise). I crate him at night by my bed and he is perfect all night long. He loves to chew on bones, but doesn't guard them. He walks well on the leash but walks with his nose to the ground. He is a medium energy dog. He loves to play fetch and brings it back but needs to learn to drop. He has an awesome recall in our fenced yard. He really wants to be with you. He has learned that there is only one couch and one bed that dogs are allowed on in our house and respects that he should only get on those two pieces of furniture. He has been a great dog in the house and learns quickly He will be an awesome dog.

You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about me on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet me today!!

Adoption fee: $425

All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. As required by Wisconsin Act 90, all dogs will have received a veterinarian exam (CVI) within the past 30 days. Our adoption process requires the submission of an application. Applications and Adoption Rules can be found on our website, on the "HOW TO ADOPT" tab at JRsPupsNStuff.org. Upon receipt of the completed application, we will process the application including: contact with your veterinarian and completion of a home visit. Please be sure to include the contact information for your vet as we will call. If your vet requires an information release, please be sure to contact them as soon as you submit your application. We are a group of volunteers with families and jobs, so please be patient and allow a few days for our response. JR’s Pups-N-Stuff Dog Sellers License 522614

JRs Pups-n-Stuff's Adoption Policy
Our process includes the completion of our application. Upon completion of the application we will: Contact your vet for information on current and previous animals. It is critical that you have authorized your vet to release information to us. If you are a renter, we will contact your landlord for verification of animal acceptance, or you can provide a copy of your lease. Complete a background check using publicly available information. If applying to adopt a dog, we will complete a home visit which requires all household members to be present. After the approval is complete you will be free to meet our animals. When meeting dogs, all members of the household as well as any dogs will be required to meet prior to finalizing any adoption. PLEASE NOTE: We will NOT adopt puppies under 6 months of age to families with children under 8 years of age. JRs does adoptions with out of area families. We do the home visit via Skype or Facetime. After an approval we do require that all family members, including any existing dogs, travel to the foster home to meet the potential adoptee. We do not ship animals. Our process is thorough and allows us to make every effort to identify the right match for your family. Please be forthcoming of all information during the process as that is what allows us to find the match. Adding a new family member is FOREVER and will adjust your free time, finances and overall life style. Animal adoption is a serious decision. JR's Pups-N-Stuff, Inc. is a volunteer based organization. Most volunteers have full time jobs and families. Our dedication to helping each and every animal find the right match can take time. Please understand and be patient during the process. Thank you.

Our Mission
Our first dogs arrived through the efforts of two volunteers who drove through the night to the Kentucky/Tennessee border. Holli and her nine 1 week old puppies, and Chiqua who was expecting her puppies any day, were carefully transported back and placed in foster homes, where they would be until their puppies reached eight...
