Keep in mind that Pit Bulls do better with companion dogs of the opposite sex. She really would like to have a home to call her own this winter.. We require you have a fenced in yard and have home visit before any application can be finalized. Email us for an application. Please read the interesting information below...If nothing else it is some good info to keep in the back of your head next time you hear somthing negative about a pit bull.

ABOUT THE BREED:

The American Canine Temperament Test Society lists this breed as having one of the most stable temperaments of any of the purebreds, right up there with golden retrievers. ( www.ATTS.org ) We like to say "To know them is to love them". Pit bulls are impressively loyal, bold and courageous animals. They are natually clownish, alert and intelligent .. in other words, a whole lot of fun to have around! Many participate and excel in various dog sports and activities, including Obedience Trials, Search and Rescue work, Agility Trials, Flyball and Frisbee Competitions. Many pit bulls work as Certified Therapy Dogs in hospitals and nursing homes. Homes with children that know the breed continue to seek them out as their dog of choice. A favorite place of just about any well loved pit bull is in the lap of his adoring human or close by his side. (we have one in our rescue being trained as an assistance dog for a 7 year old boy) When well socialized and properly raised, they're the perfect breed to tolerate the rough and tumble play that kids can dish out. Pit bulls tend to be drawn to the joyful optimism of children and love to meet them with tails awaggin'! While pit bulls are bred to be gushy, affectionate and all-loving with people, they can also be pushy, willful and even dominant. They'll happily run your household for you if you aren't ready to dish out firm guidelines. This means you'll need to be a fair, decisive handler. Obedience training is a must. Don't get a pit bull if you're a push-over! This friendship comes with a pricetag. You'll have to honor your dog's loyalty and devotion and be ready to commit LOTS of quality time to your pet for life. To banish your dog to the backyard or leave him alone for long periods of time for weeks on end can cause him to become depressed, and/or destructive. A pit bull should never be left unattended outside. A BIT OF HISTORY - Helen Keller, Theodore Roosevelt, and the "Our Gang" Little Rascals all had APBTS. Also some of the most decorated war dogs have been APBT. Thank you for reading this and please give this baby a chance!!!!

Look at this face, how can you resist?? So far here is what we know ....He showed up on Saturday - so as far as I can tell:

He loves my eight year old and follows her around from room to room.
He does not like cats.
So far he has been good with my other small dog.
He likes the couch. :)
He does not like being outside alone for long.
He did NOT like his bath - but tolerated it.
He likes socks.
He likes being in your company - from what I can tell and this may fade after he feels secure - he would be great for someone who did not work long hours.
I have not taken him to the vet as of yet - but hope to do this after I have him neutered which will be tomorrow...12-12-07.
