Lola's Story

Lola is 6 years old, and she weighs 50 pounds. This happy girl loves to play outside in our play yard. She also knows how to sit and shake for treats. Lola can be grabby with her food, so we recommend caution around small children while she's eating. Lola must meet any resident dog(s) in a potential new home to make sure they get along. Lola previously lived in a multiple-dog household.

* Special needs: Lola has chronic skin allergies, which are currently managed with a prescription food and daily allergy medication.

* Lola qualifies for the shelter's Adult Companion program, for adopters aged 50+

Humane Society of Wayne County's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process entails first meeting the animal while speaking with an adoption counselor. Then an application needs to be filled out. In some cases, there is a 24 hour waiting period. In certain circumstances the animal can go home that day. Once you are approved, you will receive a free health exam at your vet, packet of adoption materials and starter bag of Science Diet food. Adoption costs include rabies shots, distemper, heartworm or feline leukemia tests, flea treatment, heartworm preventative, and any other medication needed during the animal's stay at the shelter. Please ask about our Adult Companion program. This program is for people over 50 years of age and animals over 3 years of age. The adoption fee is waived. Adoption applications are processed daily – if you are interested in meeting/adopting a specific dog or cat featured on our website or Facebook page, please feel free to contact the Shelter by phone to verify current adoption status.
