Lola's Story

Hi, my name is LOLA and I'm an adorable 1 year old girl who is fully grown at 35-40 pounds. I have a truly beautiful tri-color coat with big soulful eyes. I was part of a family at one time but they left me when they moved and now I'm praying for a new family who will always love me. I know I may look sad in some of my pics but I'm truly hopeful and very happy living with my Foster family! I'm on the mellow and calm energy level side and quiet too and clearly have been trained because I'm very obedient. I get along great with other dogs and love everyone I meet and they love me too. I'm such a good girl and SO well behaved and I'll be a wonderful and loving member of a family. I'd absolutely love a home in the suburbs with a fenced-in backyard so I can play and relax in the sun. I'm healthy, up to date on all my vaccinations, house-trained & crate-trained too. I'm so ready to come home! Long Road Home's Adoption Policy

Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
