Loki **Sponsored Adoption!**'s Story
Meet Loki!

***Exciting News! - Loki's adoption fee has been fully sponsored by a very kind and generous SDH supporter! We're hoping this helps Loki with finding his new home!***

***Update from an SDH Volunteer!***

LOKI - Volunteer Notes
"Loki completely impressed me - he's a smart, energetic working-breed dog who LOVES to learn."

From the moment I met him, he was ready to show off: quick sits, great leash manners, a beautiful heel, and excellent tug-with-drop-it skills. Loki is exactly that. He picked up new cues so fast, and you can tell he genuinely enjoys using his brain.

He's an absolute catch for someone who wants a fun, active, smart companion - I was honestly blown away by him.

Say hello to Loki, the handsome and athletic Snow White Shepherd boy who's ready to find his perfect adventure partner! This stunning young boy is as smart as he is striking - a confident, energetic dog who's eager to learn, explore, and bond deeply with his person. He loves being everywhere you are, hops right into the car and is hiking and adventure-ready basically all the time! He's great on leash, is potty trained, fabulous with all people and he's more than ready to go to the right home!

Loki will thrive with a strong, experienced leader who understands his breed and his higher prey drive. He's the kind of dog who benefits from clear boundaries, consistent structure, and plenty of training - both physical and mental. With the right guidance, Loki will be the ultimate loyal companion and adventure buddy.

He's looking for an active home with no other pets, where he can be the center of attention and share in all of life's outdoor fun - whether that's hiking, running, or exploring new trails. In return, he'll offer endless devotion, enthusiasm, and that unmistakable Shepherd loyalty.

If you've been searching for a smart, athletic, and affectionate partner to join you on all of life's adventures, Loki might just be your perfect match.

This adorable young adult Shepherd mix boy is one of 3 lucky pups who came to us in Oregon from a shelter in Oklahoma thanks again to our amazing partner Furry Freight who will be providing the much needed transport up to the Pacific Northwest. They each have their own story and can't wait to start their new chapter and share their life with you! Feel free to take the first step and submit an adoption application through our website today to potentially become eligible to meet this amazing boy!

Will you be this Lucky Pup's Hero?

steps to adopting

(OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS ARE IN SEPARATE TEMPORARY FOSTER HOMES BETWEEN BEND/CENTRAL OREGON AND THE GREATER PORTLAND AREA. THEREFORE, MEET AND GREETS ARE NOT DONE AT OUR FACILITY. TO LEARN MORE, PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ADOPTION APPLICATION ONLINE AND OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM MANAGER WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MEET YOUR NEW PUP!)

The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. First click on the "OUR DOGS tab up above, and then click on the orange colored "Fill out an Adoption Application here" button to start the process). Once submitted, please expect 3-5 business days or sooner for processing and to hear back from us. Once you are pre-approved, your adoption application will remain on file with us for 1 year and it can go towards multiple adoptions within that 1 year time frame before it expires.

To finalize an adoption you must sign the adoption contract and pay the full adoption fee. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs SDH between $500-$700 for vetting/medical/sterilization, transport and other rescue related expenses. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are examined by a veterinarian before they fly, which includes sterilization whenever possible, given standard vaccines and rabies (if age appropriate). Most dogs are sterilized before they come into our program, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our cost.

Upon their arrival, all dogs are seen for a wellness exam by SDH's medical team. Once the adoption is finalized, any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by SDH, unless discussed prior with our medical team. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability prior to finalizing the adoption.
