Loki's Story
Adoptable Dachshund Mix Loki is a smart, confident, 5-year-old mid-size companion with a big personality and an even bigger love for adventure. He weighs 21 pounds, is fully house trained and crate trained, making him an easy addition to the right home, and he thrives with structure, routine, and clear boundaries.

Loki loves being active and enjoys walks and exploring – he can pull a bit on leash because he’s curious, but he’s great once he gets moving. He would do best in a home with a yard where he can burn off energy and play.

Loki’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
– Loki would thrive in an experienced, adult home or one with older children, no cats, and either as an only dog or with a compatible larger dog who respects boundaries.
– He’s best suited for adopters who understand dog behavior and can provide leadership, enrichment, and consistency.

✨ Loki at a glance:
✔️ House trained
✔️ Crate trained (eats and sleeps in his crate)
✔️ Enjoys walks and outdoor adventures
✔️ Enjoys car rides (may whine at first but settles)
✔️ Friendly meeting new people (may bark or jump initially)
✔️ Confident, not shy or timid
✔️ No separation anxiety

🐕 Dog/Cats/Children:
– Loki prefers larger dogs and does best with dogs over 18 lbs. His interactions with other dogs can vary – he’s done great with one dog, been standoffish with another, and reactive with another, so careful introductions are important. He can be territorial at times and may defend food, and his play style can be a bit intense.
– Loki is not cat-friendly.
– Loki likes children, but because he’s strong and energetic, a home with older, stable kids is preferred. He may accidentally knock down smaller children.

🍽️ Food & Toys:
– Loki can be defensive around food at times, though not always aggressive. He shares and plays with toys well.

🧠 Personality & Quirks:
– Loki is intelligent, affectionate, and playful. He does show some anxiety behaviors -especially seeking out plastic items, likely due to food curiosity -but he settles well in a structured environment.

Vetting and Medical
In our care, Loki has received a vet check, vaccines, a dental exam and flea treatments. Loki is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been neutered.

Medical Donations
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs.
