Locust's Story
Lucky to Love: Locust
Hi... I'm Locust.

I'm a 6-year-old, 63-pound terrier mix, and I've been waiting for my luck to change.
Everyone says St. Patrick's Day is about finding your four-leaf clover.

I think... I've been hoping someone might find me.

I've been in foster for a long time now. Long enough to watch seasons change. Long enough to see other dogs pack their bags and head home. I'm always so happy for them - I truly am - but each time, I quietly wonder when it will be my turn.

I have a very kind face - that's what people say. But my heart? It's even kinder.

I love people. Being close to you is my favorite thing in the whole world. I don't need to be the life of the party. I don't need constant excitement. I just want to sit beside you... walk next to you... rest my head near your knee and feel like I belong.

I greet everyone with soft eyes and a wagging tail. When I was rescued - after my previous owner became ill - I was the first one to walk up and say hello. That's who I am. Even after everything, I still believe in people.

I get along well with other dogs. I'm more "let's be buddies" than "let's cause trouble."

Walks are my quiet joy - sniffing the breeze, feeling the sun, sharing peaceful moments with whoever's holding my leash.

I'm not flashy. I'm not wild.

I'm steady. Loyal. Gentle.

This St. Patrick's Day, you could search for a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow...
Or you could choose the boy who has been waiting patiently for someone to choose him.

Maybe I'm not just lucky.
Maybe I'm your lucky charm.
I'm right here.
Still hoping.
Still believing.
I'll be your Locust.
