Lizzie Beth's Story

Lizzie Beth has started her training in her foster home. But as her foster mom, I wanted to show daily life with Lizzie. Several people have applied, but Lizzie needs a really special home. Lizzie Beth came to SAAP with her sister. Both are semi feral but mostly terrified. Lizzie Beth came to us at the end of October. Her & her sister replied too heavily on one another so to further help them, they were separated. Lizzie has warmed up to 2 people in our house of 5. She seems to rely heavily on adult women. Kids are scary and men are absolutely terrifying! But Lizzie LOVES all dogs. She has yet to find a dog she doesn’t love. Older dogs can be easily exhausted by her energy. So she’ll need a playful, younger fur buddy. She loves cats and mostly wants to sniff them and be near them. She’s truly fascinated by them. (But never harms them) Lizzie still bolts from foster mom around the house and has kept me in shape from trying to catch her. We’ve begun using cheese to get entice her (& get her to eat from my hand) and a drag leash so she’s easy to grab. I forgot to put one on before her potty break and well...Lizzie really enjoyed the snow for a while! She also has a bad habit of nibbling holes in pillow cases, blankets, socks, slippers...etc. (ask me how I know ) BUT Lizzie Beth is SO sweet and snuggly. When it’s just foster mom, she will sleep on top of me or right beside me. She loves her furry foster siblings and cuddles with them too. To summarize: if you are interested in Lizzie Beth she needs the following (as far as we know at this time, it has taken several months for her to start to open up) -older kids. Young kids are scary and their toys are tasty -preferably no men, this might change but currently her foster dad is unable to handle her in the home and she usually runs from him. (Foster dad is sad as 95% of fosters all love him instantly) -Younger, social dogs in the home okay with play. -Patience because potty training is ruff and Lizzie takes time to open up. I know this is long but let me know if you have questions!

Stray Animal Adoption Program's Adoption Policy
The Adoption Process SAAP asks for a minimum donation at the time of the adoption. This request is always $300 or less (usually $150 – $250). We are required to collect sales tax on adoptions in the state of Kentucky. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept credit/debit cards. Cash or check is readily accepted. All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, micro chipped, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, flea and tick medication applied, and ready to go home with you when you meet them. We ask that you submit an adoption application. We will review and approve/deny your application in a timely manner. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a “Meet and Greet” appointment. Often times this is scheduled at the start of one of our regular adoption events. Frequently, we can make arrangements to meet at times/dates other than our usual events. At the “Meet and Greet” you will have time to make the final decision as to whether you wish to adopt the pet. If indeed you do make the decision to adopt the pet, there is a basic pet adoption contract to complete. The SAAP personnel that is assisting with your pet adoption will be happy to review the contract with you. SAAP does promote life long adoptions. In the unforeseen instance that you must surrender the pet, you must return the pet to SAAP. It is unfortunate, but we cannot return your adoption donation. Copyright 2014-2021 Kreyling Creative LL
