Liza's Story
Many of our dogs don't come from the best situations and Liza is no exception. She came from a situation where her "owners" let their dogs roam free and breed and, eventually, the owner got put into a nursing home and left all the dogs behind. They were left to fend for themselves and Liza kept herself alive by running back and forth to a nearby gas station each day for food. The rest of the dogs, sadly, got hit by cars. So Liza is a true survivor. She is estimated to be about two years old and is small at only about 25 pounds. However she may gain weight as she is currently very underweight. Our rescue partners pegged her as a Lab mix, however she's on the small side and so we are going to say mixed breed as we can only guess. She's a sweet girl but will definitely need a family that is patient and can help her learn that people can be good and life can be so much more than just trying to survive. She has likely never lived in a home and been treated like a member of the family so she will need to learn all the ropes. She would likely enjoy another calm dog in the household. She is currently in AL but we can't wait to tell her that she's earned her freedom ride to Maine to meet her forever family.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Liza or just want to get pre-approved to adopt through us, please fill out an application on our website.
