Livia Alastair's Story
Livia Alastair is an appx 3yrs old year old retriever/hound mix who currently weighs about 15 lbs. Livia is 'special' but not because of any debilitating medical or physical needs (she is blind in one eye), but because of her shyness. She came from a hoarding situation where she did not get the socialization she needed as a developing puppy and we are pulling out all our magic to make sure she feels safe and builds confidence. It would be wonderful if she could be working on this in her forever home as she is still so young and it would be nice for her to be building that confidence with her humans. She is very sweet and submissive. She adores other dogs and she will need a strong leader dog in her adoptive home. We do have a behavior and training program and any adopter will have full access to those resources to help guide you along the way. Because of her shyness with humans, we do not recommend children in the home as their fast movements and louder, often unexpected voices could just be too much for her. Shy dogs need homes that are interested in always working towards nurturing stronger dogs, taking the slow steps to get them out into the world where they can build confidence, rather than a plan of always staying home and never having to experience new things. Though that might seem easier, it's not the best thing for their future. We are happy to educate any potential adopter on all of these matters. We do also feel it is important for her to have a fenced in yard.

She is up to date on shots, current on preventatives, and microchipped.
Her adoption fee is $250. Our adoption fee is set to a level to make adoptions happen. They do not cover our costs. Thank you for your generosity and interest in our dogs!

All dogs adopted locally through SGDR receive a free six-week session of obedience classes and a lifetime of behavior support through our Project REWARD program with trainer Ashley Reum.

You must have an approved application before being able to visit a dog. Visit our website below for an adoption application https://www.snootygiggles.com/dog-application/

If you expect to leave the dog alone for long periods of time, please do not consider adopting a puppy. Puppies need lots of attention and companionship. Thanks.

All known information about the animal is listed above. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history.
