Little Ellen's Story
*** Apply online at: furfriendsrescue.com***
***We adopt within 2 hour radius of Portland OR ***
*** Ellen is in our “SENIOR FOR SENIORS” program.

Ellen is a very sweet and happy girl. She is so grateful for being loved and her human's attention. Ellen lives with other dogs and gets along wonderfully with everyone, including cats (and apparently cows :-)). What she most desires is company of her people, but she is not needy at all. She loves to go on walks and hang out at home cuddling.
Ellen was rescued from a shelter where she was left by a family who no longer wanted to care for her .
Ellen is super smart, good with kids (gentle, kind,) and she is extremely well mannered.

Ellen is approximately 11 years old. and weighs approximately 11.5 lbs. She is spayed, UTD on all her vaccines and microchipped.
Ellen is house-trained and benefits from being let out frequently throughout the day

Ellen's foster interpreted for us, what little Ellen said:
"Hi, my name is Elen. While my history may be a mystery, I promise that once you get to know me and let me settle in, you'll find yourself loving me without reservation.
I am hard of hearing and have limited vision, but I don't let that slow me down. Once I know my surroundings, I enjoy walking around the house and navigating all furniture with amazing agility. I even get the occasional zoomies especially after bath time, which I dislike tremendously. My sense of smell is amazing...just wait until you see my dance moves at mealtime.
I wasn't sure about being touched at first, but my foster Mom and Dad have been working with me and are good about letting me smell their hands before touching or picking me up. I've grown to love ear rubs and will lay on my back when you rub my belly... I've established a daily routine in my foster home, blending senior wisdom with youthful energy. My day kicks off around 6am, when I stand in my kennel and enthusiastically demand to be let out. You might try to send me outside to potty, but breakfast is my top priority - sometimes you'll need to nudge me to go back and take care of business.

After breakfast, I'm all about getting my steps in, going in and out of the house and taking a few laps inside before settling down for a well-earned nap in one of many beds. I'm a champion sleeper, snoozing soundly until hunger or nature calls.
I like to stand at the sliding door and gaze out as if I'm watching every bird and squirrel pass by. I am a good communicator and will let you know when I want something whether it's simply to go outside or eat. You see I don't really bark, but I prefer the added drama of a good how. I need a small, fenced yard because my foster Dad says run like a fox when excited or startled and with my limited vision a small area will keep me safe.
I enjoy car rides, especially the nap that accompanies it, but be sure to wake me if you swing by your favorite coffee shop. Despite having only one tooth and a tongue that sometimes hangs playfully from my mouth, I never say no to a delicious whip cream treat!
Oh, and my foster Mom said to be honest and include that I'm not a fan of getting my face washed, in fact she says I'm like a mad toddler when she tries, but she believes that with patience and gentle care, I'll eventually warm up to the idea.
My foster family consists of dogs and cats...so I'd love the presence of a gentle fur companion who respects my abilities and wants to join me for walks and naps. Most of all, my ideal forever family will love and cherish me for who I am inside and out.
Could that be you? Please don't wait...send in an application for me today!”

*** $295 Adoption donation is tax deductible (senior discount of $50 is available for 65 and over) ***
*** Apply online at: furfriendsrescue.com ***
***we do not DNA test therefore we do not guarantee purity of breeds.
