Lisa's Story

We met Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes last year, when our team was called out to a gruesome scene in a Detroit backyard. Lisa and several other dogs were living their lives in filth, chained up in a backyard. Before we arrived, one of the other dogs (another innocent being that thankfully, survived her life of cruelty and is now happily adopted!) had gotten off of her chain and gotten into a scuffle with Lisa. Both dogs were exhausted and bloody, but Lisa was badly injured, specifically to her left eye.

We rushed her into the emergency vet where she received round-the-clock care for several days before returning to our shelter to start her life after cruelty. Due to the trauma to her face, Lisa is partially blind and cannot see out of her left eye. She doesn't let this injury slow her down, and no further treatment is needed to keep her happy and healthy!

Lisa LOVES her time with people - she is velvety soft and spends a lot of her time in our volunteers' laps, soaking up all the attention she can get! Lisa does have strong feelings about dogs - we don't blame her - and requests to be the only pet in her new home.

Adopting Lisa comes with one free consultation with our certified professional dog trainer, listening to little piggy snorts, and a whole lot of love. Lisa is spayed, up to date on all medical and vaccines, and ready to move out of our kennel and onto your couch!
