Linus's Story

<span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Tahoma","sans-serif";">Linus was rescued from a high kill shelter in North Carolina, in his final hours. Now, he is being fostered in Toronto and his foster mom describes him as an absolute joy!

<span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Tahoma","sans-serif";">Here is what she has to say about him: Linus is a young 13 month Coonhound and Beagle mix. He is currently around 40 pounds or so, however, has quite a bit of filling out to do over time. He is a good eater, however, and enjoys meal time very much.

<span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Tahoma","sans-serif";">Linus is extremely warm and loving, and has a very gentle soul. He wants to meet close to everyone that crosses his path and does not take any time to warm up to people and is always welcoming of pets (even from complete strangers). He does especially well with children - always careful and gentle.

With saying this, however, Linus has A LOT of energy. Hounds are known to be hunters and he therefore needs lots of time outdoors and to race around. He needs and loves long walks and absolutely adores runs!!!! He likes to be the leader, setting the pace and is usually walking me instead of vice versa. I have yet to take him off leash as he is still a baby, however, I think he would greatly enjoy dog parks and open fields and trails. I have taken Linus on an urban hike and he absolutely loved it - he would make an impeccable hiking companion and would probably scope out some neat wildlife for you.

<span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Tahoma","sans-serif";">Of course with being so high energy, Linus also sleeps a lot and does have a bit of an adorable snore. He does not have a strict schedule at the moment as I work hospital shift work, and is very adaptable! :)

Linus, as he is with humans is very friendly to other dogs. He behaves well around dogs including dogs smaller than him. He does get fearful of the occasional dog and will bark if the another dog instigates barking. He loves to play fight, however I would keep an eye out for him as he can easily fall prey to being beat up. He is VERY social!
<span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Tahoma","sans-serif";">Linus has quite a high prey drive. He likes to chase around squirrels and rabbits outside and does not do well with cats.

<span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Tahoma","sans-serif";">Linus is house broken, however, does like to chew on things when he wants to get your attention. He loves shoes and is a fan of dragging around towels and blankets (just like Linus from the Comic). I leave him unsupervised when I go to work. He has never destroyed anything in my apartment but I don`t leave out much for him to get into. I`m sure if I left a pair of shoes he would have is way with them throughout the day. He is crate trained, however, does not much like it. He gets a bit anxious and tends to groom a lot (overly so) and nibble at his fur. I, now, after having him for a bit do not feel the need to crate him. Him being such a gentle soul, however, does not put up any fuss when put in the crate.

<span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: "Tahoma","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; color: black; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">Linus is a wonderful pup and friend, and anyone would be blessed to have him. He already has my heart!
