Lincoln's Story
Meet Lincoln!

This smart, and affectionate Labrador Retriever was saved from being euthanized at the San Antonio shelter. He was hit by car and never reclaimed.

This handsome boy is fully grown and under 50 lbs, making him the perfect mid-size companion. Lincoln is incredibly loving, eager to please, and highly trainable with that typical Labrador food drive.

He's the definition of Man's Best Friend: When he bonds with you, he'll place his front paws on your chest and gaze into your eyes. When he's all revved up, he'll "roo" in excitement.

He is moderately active, and a surprisingly great apartment dog with some basic skills under his belt. He is kennel trained, house broken, and lounges around the house when indoors. He has not been destructive, and his temp foster describes him as low maintenance. But when it's time to go out for walks and trail runs, he's amped and ready to go.

He loves to eat, and will foam at his mouth when he begs. He loves working on peanut butter lick mats, Kongs, and food puzzles in his crate while you're away at work.

When it comes to other dogs, Lincoln has some residual trauma left over from shelter life and would do best as the only pet. He has made great improvements practicing neutrality around other dogs on leash, and ignores them as long as they stay out of his personal space, but he's still quite insecure around them and has some battle scars from scuffles in his past life. He is a puller on leash, and does jump up on you when he's excited. He loves having his head scratched, but his back legs are a bit sensitive since his car accident. A home with older teens or adults would be most suitable for him.

He is adoptable anywhere in the United States, but is currently being boarded in Austin, Tx.

Can’t adopt but want to help him? He’s currently looking for a foster home in the Central Texas area to give him a safe place to reside while he waits for his forever family. If you have a quiet home and a big heart, Lincoln is ready to reward you with endless loyalty and affection.

To Adopt: www.herdinghomerescue.com/adoption-application

To Foster: www.herdinghomerescue.com/foster-application

Please do not inquire via Petfinder.
