Lilly's Story

Lilly, ~ 1.5 yr. old 40lb, spayed, yellow lab mix is available for adoption

Background: A good Samaritan in Stanislaus County found Lilly, undernourished and alone in an orchard near his home. He checked with local shelters and put up notices, but nobody came to claim her, so he contacted Golden Gate Lab Rescue to help find her a home.

What Lilly’s Foster says:
Lilly’s personality matches her coloring: she is good as gold. She is quite affectionate, and we have distracted her mouthy-ness with (non-destructive) chew toys. She has easily found her “potty” spots. She would be a quick learner with consistent obedience training. We are working on sit/stay, but she seems to know “Lilly, No.” “Come,” “Water,” “Wait” & “UP” for up our hill.. She possibly jumped up on me 1x, and when I said "Lilly “Off”, she didn't do it again. She is getting better on the leash. We continue to encourage her to walk WITH us when we have taken her outside the yard to explore our quiet street. She is NEVER not by my side.

What Lilly’s Rescue Rep says:
We’re just getting to know Lilly, and she’s already showing herself to be a sweet, energetic, and playful young pup who loves attention. She likely spent much of her life outdoors and still prefers being outside, so a home with a secure yard where she can safely run and explore would be ideal.

Lilly is adjusting well to life indoors. Her housetraining is coming along nicely, with only a few initial accidents. She is also learning to wear a collar and leash, and she’s proving to be a quick learner—she has already mastered going up and down stairs. Lilly sleeps at night in a crate and will often go into her crate during the day for naps.

She has done well with other animals, getting along fine when meeting other dogs and has shown no reaction to cats. Lilly has plenty of youthful energy and will benefit from continued socialization, basic obedience training, and regular practice with leash manners. Like many young dogs, she enjoys chewing, so supervision, daily exercise, and appropriate chew toys will be important to help her succeed.
Lilly would do best with experienced adopters who can provide consistent structure, training, and exercise. An older, well-mannered dog in the home could be a great role model for her. Because she can be jumpy and somewhat mouthy, a family with older children would be the best fit. With the right guidance and commitment, Lilly has the potential to become a wonderful lifelong companion

Medical:
Lilly is a healthy girl. She’s up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and spayed.

Lilly is currently located in: San Rafael

Lilly going for a walk on leash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCrMUsvH-iY&feature=youtu.be

Lilly and Rio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMewFsbWYSk&feature=youtu.be

Lilly meeting another dog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG1NT6djNJI

Lilly doing zoomies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYBc5_tcDQ8&feature=youtu.be

Lilly running the stairs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ4maK8qYr8

If you are interested in Lilly, please email Rescue Rep Kathy at ksmillich@gmail.com In your email, please tell me about yourself and why you would be a good fit for Lilly.
