Lilith's Story
The biographical information provided is correct to the best of our knowledge while the animal is in our care or includes what may have been provided by a previous owner. We strive to be honest and accurate, but animals can change their personalities and behavior when they settle into a new home. IDR+ makes no guarantees based on the information we observe and provide.

Meet Lilith, a 4-year-old female German Shepherd. She was found as a stray and taken to a shelter, where her future was uncertain until we brought her into our program. Upon intake, she tested positive for heartworm, but she’s completed treatment and is doing well.

Lilith already knew basic commands like sit, down, and go when she arrived, and she has excellent recall—even responding on her first day in foster care. She’s crate trained and will rest in her crate on her own. While she can stay crated during a workday, she’s not yet able to hold it all day—three to four hours is more realistic. Her foster is working on teaching her to signal when she needs to go outside.

Lilith prefers to stay close to her people and follows her foster around the house. She has a good balance of energy—she enjoys activity but can also settle next to you or relax in her crate. She would likely do well in a home that can offer her structure and enrichment. She may enjoy activities like obedience, nose work, or jogging (once she builds stamina post-treatment).

She’s currently being kept separate from the resident dog. While she may be able to live with another dog after slow introductions, we recommend her as an only dog at this time. She’s likely too rough for older or small dogs. Homes with cats or small animals are not a good fit, as she has a high prey drive and shows strong interest in birds.

Lilith is looking for an adopter who understands the breed, can continue her training, and will give her the structure and attention she thrives on.
