Lil Bear's Story
Meet Lil Bear!

Lil Bear was found alone in his home after his owner walked out one day … and simply never came back for him. His condition when found was appalling, but somehow he survived and made his way to us. He met the crew (many dogs, most of them very small), took it all in, and made it clear that what he wants most is people: human touch, human kindness. He would love to join a family where someone is home with him most of the time to give him love, cuddles, and reassure him that he will never be deserted again.

Lil Bear is amenable to everything ~ handling, pets, snuggles, all of it. He adores being loved on and will happily climb into your lap… all 30 pounds of him (lap capacity is merely a suggestion). When he’s not perfecting his cuddle skills, his next favorite activities include zooming around the yard (he would love one in his forever home), enthusiastically chasing a ball, and assisting foster dad in reading the paper. Lil Bear LOVES being outside - he's the dog that wants to go back out as soon as he comes in. He also loves going for walks and meeting new people. He's great with kids - especially if they'll play fetch with him!

Lil Bear is mostly housetrained but his foster mom keeps him in a belly band while he's perfecting his skills to prevent any accidents during the day. He's very communicative about other things though: he'll bark to tell you he wants your attention and love, and we can't blame him for that after the loneliness of what he's been through. He also barks outside to let the squirrels know who's in charge, and keeps an eye on potential intruders through the window so he can sound the alarm.

Lil Bear would do best in a family where someone is home with him most of the time so he doesn't have to fear being abandoned again. When his humans go out without him, he'll search for them and then lay in front of the door until they return. He sleeps through the night in bed with his foster mom, eats like a champ, and is a perfect gentleman at bath time. He's fine on the leash and in the car.

Lil Bear is approximately 8 years old and 30 lbs.

Fostered in Manassas, VA
Please apply at MirisHaven.org
