Libby (Senior/long-term)'s Story

Libby is a beautiful and chunky ABD mix who was part of a litter of dumped puppies when she was very, very young. She was in terrible shape with a horrific infection in one of her eyes which caused her to lose sight in that eye. She kept the actual eyeball, but is blind in her left eye. It is non-painful and doesn't bother her. <br/>Libby was adopted to a terrific home when she was a baby, but when she was about 1.5 years old, her human mother developed severe and life threatening health problems and could no longer care for Libby. So, she is now back with us and is looking for a new home. Libby is a big girl, and while she was very overwhelmed when she came back to the shelter, she has adjusted very well. She can be a bit shy with people she does not know, but warms up very quickly with treats and kind words. She LOVES to play, LOVES toys and wants to be with her person. Her blindness in one eye does NOT cause her any problems and she gets around just as good as a dog who has sight in both eyes. Libby would do best in a single-person household with NO other pets and NO young children. She tends to be protective of her person and does not do well sharing him or her with others. We recognize that Libby's size, protectiveness, and bad eye will make it difficult for her to find a home, but we sure want folks to know what a great dog she is! She is housebroken. Please come meet Libby today!
