Lexie Annie's Story

My name is Lexie Annie, some people call me Lexie, and others, Annie. I came to Tall Tails Beagle Rescue from Grayson County Humane Society/SPCA in Leitchfield, KY. “7-7-07 This little gal has quite a long history of a sort with us. Her owner, a student, asked that I find her a home a couple of years ago. I brought her to my home and had found a place for her to go. In the meantime I happened to mention that I didn't think she was feeling well (I now believe she was just homesick) and she insisted I give her back, which I did along with literature from Dogs Deserve Better about tieing out animals, etc., and her grandmother agreed to get a pen for her dogs. We have had a long history with this girl and her dogs, including another dog which came to us with freezing pups (one died, one lived) and over the months I learned that little Lexie had a litter of pups. A couple of weeks ago, Lexie (whom we named Annie at the time) was brought to us with a tranquilizer dart embedded in her abdomen. She was immediately taken to the vet and had surgery which cost about $200. Shortly before the girl came to reclaim her (she said her father was keeping Lexie Annie and had not told her that Lexie Annie was missing). The agreement was that she would pay for surgery, she would be spayed (which was done on the 5th) and she would stay inside. Her mother called to see if the girl could work off the debt, but as we are volunteers, it would lighten our load but it would not add money to the bank account for the vet bill. She was supposed to reclaim her on Friday and did not show. So, we are now looking for rescue or adoption for Lexie Annie. She is a quiet little girl; she seems sad and we think she really loves the girl and vice versa, but we need to do what is best for her. If you would like to contribute to her bill, adopt or rescue her, please contact us. We are hoping she will soon find a great forever home. She is probably 3-4 years old.” Please give Lexie Annie a loving home.
