Meet Lexi
Laxi has been adopted! She found a new home in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Her new family is the center of her life now, and she enjoys going on hikes and trips to her local dog park.
Lexi is a gorgeous, elegant young Shepherd/Collie mix who is just settling into her foster home. She was born in August 2019. She is intelligent and kind, and really wants to form a relationship with her family. She is a very athletic dog and enjoys running around her with her canine buddies. After she has had her exercise and playtime, she is very happy to get some well-deserved rest. Lexi can jump a very high fence, so she must never be left alone in a fenced in area. She usually jumps because she likes to be with her humans - not necessarily to run away.
Lexi is still an adolescent, and she is looking for a family that will do active things with her like hiking, agility, training and/or herding. She is not a good candidate for someone who works outside the home and intends to leave her confined indoors for 8+ hours a day with a 20-minute walk at lunchtime. She is very similar to a purebred German Shepherd in temperament, but she has that collie sweetness we all love, that softens her up quite a bit. Her ideal home will have a good-sized fenced-in yard, and a large, easy-going male dog to be a big brother and mentor. She can be a bit rough and intimidating with puppies, so she may not do as well with a small dog as a companion.
If you have the time and energy to work with a smart, athletic dog, you will love Lexi. She should mature into a tall and lean, 60-pound girl with an enthusiastic and outgoing personality who will be devoted to her family and best friends.
Note: Lexi is siblings with Kensy, another dog available for adoption through the Collie Rescue Inc., but they will be going to separate homes.
