Letty's Story

Hi. My name is Letty. I’m writing this from my kennel. I’m about a year old, and I’m still learning how the world works. Right now, the world feels very loud and very lonely. I was originally adopted from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter a few months ago, and I truly hoped that was the beginning of my forever. The nice shelter ladies here said the SF shelter may take me back since I was adopted from there, but they are at capacity, much like many shelters across the state, so I am staying with the City of Las Vegas Animal Care Center for now, just waiting and trying to understand where I belong. The shelter is a hard place for a dog like me. There isn’t much time for cuddles or calm moments, and that’s what I need most. I crave love and attention with my whole heart. When someone stops by my kennel, I wiggle, I smile, and sometimes I forget my manners because I’m just so happy to be seen. The people here say I’m a good girl who simply needs help learning boundaries and structure. I love toys. I love snacks. I love being silly. I’m a big goofball with a soft heart, and companionship is truly all I want. If you sit with me, I’ll lean into you like you’re my whole world, because in that moment, you are. Being in a kennel is really hard on me. Each day without consistent human connection makes me more anxious and confused. The people caring for me are worried that if I don’t get out soon, my mental state will continue to decline, and my story may not have the happy ending everyone hopes for. I would likely do best in a home with older, respectful children who understand that I’m still young and still learning. I may feel scared when my humans are away and might try to find them if I can. Not because I’m bad, but because staying close to my people makes me feel safe. I am not broken.I promise I am trying. I am just a young dog waiting for someone to choose me. Please don’t let me be overlooked here in my kennel. I am ready to give my whole heart to the person who gives me a chance. Love always, Letty
