Leonard *In Foster Home*'s Story

Hi, my name is Leonard! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Affectionate, silly, shy/timid but learning to trust!

-Can Live with Kids: No, thanks, this nervous little guy would much prefer an adult-only home.

-Can Live with Cats: A confident cat who can stand up for themselves if chased would likely be fine after a slow, supervised intro process (he does like to chase but it's all in good fun!)

-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, another similar-sized dog who doesn't mind sharing their human would be okay, initial intro done at WHS.

-Can do Apartment Living: Yes

-Potty Trained: Yes

-Bite History: No

-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: No

-Energy Level: Medium

-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Nope!
-Additional Information: Leonard is a sensitive little guy who's working on learning the world isn't so scary. Currently in a foster home, Leonard is making progress from the shutdown, trembling pup he was on arrival. He'd love a calm, patient adopter who understands change doesn't happen overnight, and that he's probably always going to be a dog that prefers quiet nights at home rather than busy outings on the town. Once Leonard knows he can trust you, he is the sweetest, snuggliest, most affectionate little guy-- those who have experience with nervous Chihuahuas know how special it is to earn their love and adoration!
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
