Leon's Story

Meet Leon
Seven years of waiting. A lifetime of love still ahead.

Leon is a 7-year-old red Toy Poodle who is learning something he’s never really known before: the good life.

Leon came from a puppy mill, so he’s learning to live life as a beloved family pet. He is a shy boy, but underneath that uncertainty is a gentle little guy who is slowly discovering that people can be kind, life can be safe, and new experiences can be wonderful.

One of the most rewarding things is watching Leon relax, even if just for a moment, and letting his bouncy, playful personality peek through. Those little glimpses of the happy dog hiding underneath his shyness are so special—and they make you realize just how much more is waiting to emerge as his confidence grows.

He already has a few favorites—stroller rides are at the top of his list!

Leon is making great strides with his potty training and will need a patient family who understands that trust doesn’t happen overnight. He needs someone willing to go at his pace, celebrate the tiny victories, and give him the time and space to blossom into the dog he is meant to be. A confident, friendly canine companion would be an important part of his journey, helping to show him the ropes as he discovers the joys of being a cherished family member.

A quiet, calm home without young children would be best for Leon. He will also need a securely fenced yard as he continues building confidence and learning about the world.

And if Leon had a signature song, it would have to be “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Because after spending seven years waiting, he is finally discovering that there is a whole world beyond the kennel—and maybe, just maybe, his own little rainbow is waiting at the end of this journey.

Leon doesn’t need someone to “fix” him. He just needs someone willing to show him, one small step at a time, what life is supposed to feel like.

Could you be the one to help this little red treasure find his rainbow—and discover just how wonderful life can be?

Leon’s Favorites

Favorite Activity: Stroller rides! Leon loves getting out and seeing the world from the safety and comfort of his ride.

Favorite Thing to Discover: New experiences. He may be cautious at first, but his curiosity is starting to win out.

Favorite Personality Trait: His gentle, mellow nature. Once he feels comfortable, you get to see the sweet little guy underneath the shyness.

Favorite Hobby: Observing! Leon is a curious little guy who likes to take everything in and figure things out at his own pace.

Walk-Out Song: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” — because after seven years of waiting, Leon is finally getting his chance to discover the beautiful life that was waiting for him.

Favorite Dinner: Soft/wet food and Smallbatch freeze-dried meals.

Favorite Kind of Friend: A confident, friendly dog who can help show Leon that the world is a pretty wonderful place.

Leon at a Glance

* Age: 7 years old
* Breed: Toy Poodle
* Color: Red
* Weight: 6.5 lbs
* Foster Location: Whitewater, WI
* Activity Level: Moderate
* Personality: Curious, observant, smart, gentle & mellow
* Friendly: Older kids and dogs, not cat tested
* Potty Training: Making great progress
* Best Home: Quiet, calm home without young children
* Yard: Securely fenced yard required
* Dog Friend: A confident, friendly canine companion would be a wonderful help to Leon as he continues learning about the world

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.
