Leon's Story

Meet Leon – The Sweetest Three-Legged Explorer

Leon is a 2.5-year-old Labrador mix who has been waiting in foster care since April 2024 for the right family to see just how special he is. Rescued from a junkyard with a severe leg injury, Leon became a tripod — and he’s been thriving ever since with resilience, joy, and an enormous heart.

Leon loves with his whole being. He is affectionate, loyal, and happiest as part of a pack. Another dog in the home is a must, as having a canine companion helps him feel secure and confident. He enjoys walks, playtime, and outdoor adventures, especially in a securely fenced yard.

This sweet boy would do best with a family experienced with special-needs or tripod dogs who can provide the proper care and understanding he deserves. Leon doesn’t let having three legs slow him down — he just needs a family willing to love him for exactly who he is.

Leon is extremely affectionate and social. He adores kids and loves the company of other dogs his size or larger. He’s currently living peacefully with a dog-savvy cat, though we think he’d do best in a home without feline roommates (or with continued supervision).

With a medium energy level, Leon enjoys his daily walks, backyard adventures, and social outings. He’s also a smart cookie who benefits from mental stimulation — puzzle toys, training games, or anything that engages his mind. A securely fenced backyard is a must, as Leon loves to explore and stretch his legs safely.

Leon’s dream home is with an active family who has older kids or respectful young ones, a playful canine sibling around his size, and an understanding heart when it comes to his mobility needs. He doesn’t let being a tripod slow him down, but he’ll need a home that’s patient and supportive of his unique needs.
