Meet Leo

Leo was identified by the shelter as a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. An Embark DNA test shows that he is a mix of Black Mouth and Mountain Cur, Plott Hound, Texas Blue Lacey and Catahoula Leopard Dog. He is highly unusual and very handsome! Leo is very energetic and needs more training. He does well with other dogs and may be great for a sport such as agility or nose dog work! He will do best in a home with lots of outlets to keep him mentally and physically stimulated. He would probably be great running and hiking companion when he is a tad older!

Since being in a foster home, Leo has adjusted well. He is free to roam without being destructive. He is a bit needy, however, and doesn't like being alone. He would be best with someone who is home most of the time, and/or who has another dog or two who he could hang out with. Leo may be okay with cats - as he visited a home a few times recently and was quite deferential to the resident cat there. He's okay with kids, but would not be great with little ones as he may have too much energy for them to be safe around. He will be a fun dog for someone to take on adventures!

*Leo is being fostered in the East Bay area, near San Francisco, CA.*
