Leo's Story

Leo was an owner surrender who originally came from the Mat-Su Animal Shelter. I was able to speak to a staff member at the Mat-Su Animal Shelter regarding Leo, and they said that his original owner had this to say about him:

-he was originally surrendered for being too hyper around the toddler (he’s under 1.5 years old!)
-he is crate-trained and can go 12 hours without an accident
-he knows basic commands (Sit, Down, Come, Shake, Heel)
-doesn’t do well in the bed of a truck, but from my experience, rides calmly and quietly in a kennel in the cab

His most recent owner surrendered him after having him for exactly three weeks (which is just when a dog is starting to get comfortable in the routine of their new home) saying that he was reactive toward men. We have not witnessed this, nor did the shelter witness it. He was an emergency case for that reason, as if he would've been surrendered back to the shelter, he would've been considered "Owner Surrender for Euthanasia," according to the staff member I spoke to.

He needs socialization, as most young dogs do. He has been very curious and friendly on our socialization walks around Lowe's. He has greeted and been sweet and affectionate toward men there. He has a beautiful loose-leash heel when on a slip lead instead of a harness.
