Leia, or as her foster mom lovingly calls her Princess Leia, is a 2 year old Mini Pinscher mix who is as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside. This 35 lb. cuddlebug has been an amazing mom to her 8 puppies, most of whom have now been adopted. She cared for and attended to their every need, and now she’s ready to be someone’s baby. Her foster family, as well as all who have met her, can not help but remark on what a gentle, sweet-natured girl she is. She and her foster mom take lots of walks together, and she walks beautifully on the leash. The hunting traits of her breed become apparent on their walks when Leia will stop, lift her front leg and raise her ears as she detects the sounds of critters in the vicinity. She loves to spend time sniffing and searching out the tiny residents in the pachysandra of her foster home. She is a little timid and shy when first meeting new people but quickly warms up and loves to be pet. Leia enjoys playing in the yard and loves to play fetch too! She is house trained and knows her basic commands. We are a foster-based rescue and do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. Please do not contact us requesting a meeting with a dog because we are an all-volunteer organization, and these requests tie up our volunteers who could instead be checking applications. <br/><br/>As you can imagine, we are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (http://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We do not have a shelter facility and we provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering, and microchipping before transporting our dogs. Then, we provide whatever follow up care is necessary while they are in foster care. All of this is very expensive and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you.
