Leia's Story

My name is Leia, and I'm a black lab mix, a year young and weighing in at a sturdy 50 pounds.

My foster family calls me a fashionista for more than one reason. I started out with very thin fur so coats, jumpsuits, and pjs were my go to just to keep me warm. I have like 5 different outfits I rotate through. I was very anxious coming into my fosters home especially with TWO dogs. It took me a month to adjust to them and fit in with the pack but now we all get along. I love to chase them in the backyard and get my zoomies out. I do have to tell you that I am still learning what it means to play with other dogs...I am a bit of an ankle/ear/neck bitter which I know some dogs don’t love. After a long day I still love curling up on the couch and having a nice cuddle session with my favorite human. I also haven't met a toy I haven’t loved. Squeakers are my favorite followed by a fresh tennis ball.

At first, car rides were terrifying...but then, something magical happened. My humans started using the word "car ride" and then, BOOM! New smells! New people! New places to explore! It was like unlocking a secret code. Suddenly, "car ride" meant adventure, and adventure meant delicious treats and enthusiastic ear scratches.

I walk nicely on my leash, and fetch is my absolute favorite activity. Throw that ball, throw that stick, throw anything! I'll bring it back, tail wagging furiously, ready for another round. And speaking of things I love...treats! I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a sucker for anything edible. I've also mastered sit and am almost a master at stay.

One thing I'm *not* a fan of? Cats. Those sneaky, aloof creatures just rub me the wrong way. But hey, no one's perfect. I'm Leia, and I'm living my best life, one car ride, one fetch, and one treat at a time.

If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website at www.lolin.org and click on Adopt, Apply for a Dog.
