Legend's Story

Adopt Legend!

Legend is just that, a Legend. When GSD lovers describe why they love the breed, this boy right here is why! He’s a social, happy, giant suck. He’s a goofy boy and loves his toys. He’s a couch potato but also always ready to head out for a good walk and sniff. He’s great with leash pressure. Good in his crate. He still needs to work on some general training, but he’s a good boy! He does get very sad when someone raises their voice or changes their tone, which is heartbreaking. He is a giant snuggler and if he had his choice would be fully on top of your body. He does have some of that GSD whiney anxiety but we believe once he’s settled that should get better. He thrives off routine. He’s great in his crate. Loves the car. Female dogs especially he seems to do well with. He’s not bad with males but can get a little intense with play.

We believe Legend is about 8 years old. He does have osteoarthritis due to elbow dysplasia in his left leg. It doesn’t slow him down much but the more care he has for it now, the longer he will have a better quality of life. We have started the following, but he needs a family willing/able to continue working with this and who is proactive with giving him the extra care, pain management (continued Librela, Metacam etc.), supplements, vetting and rehab/proper exercise he will need. He would love to be in the country but has done surprisingly well in the city!

Legend means no harm but does lack some spacial awareness and gets a bit excited with toys. While we believe he can be around children if the interaction is monitored, we think a home without kids, so he gets all the extra attention, may be best. Legend hasn’t been cat tested but he does try to chase squirrel friends. We could see him being a bit of a kitty chaser at first, so a home without cats (unless proper intro and monitored interaction) may be best!

Legend deserves the world and is such an amazing dog. Whoever ends up with this sweet soul is so lucky.

Apply??
www.saltyanimalrescue.com/adopt
