Meet Leela
Meet Leela, our beautiful 3-year-old 45 lb shepherd mix, who's journey from a high-kill shelter in Texas to our rescue has been nothing short of transformative. Initially shy and reserved, Leela has blossomed into a confident, sweet, and happy girl, ready to find her forever home.
Leela's transformation has been a joy to witness. From her tentative first days to now, she's shown us her true colors: a loveable snuggle bug with a zest for life. She adores playing and is always ready to leap into your lap for some affection. Her eagerness to please and her gentle nature make her a delightful companion.
Leela is the epitome of an easy-going, happy-go-lucky pup. She's looking for a human companion to follow around and spend her days with. Walking on a leash is one of her favorite activities, and her excitement at the sight of her leash is heartwarming. She understands it's her time for adventure and bonding.
Adapting to a new environment may take Leela a little time, so she needs a forever family that will be patient and understanding as she settles in. She gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine sibling. Alternatively, being an only pet would suit her just fine, where she can soak up all the love and attention.
Leela is a bit shy when meeting new people, so a home with low foot traffic would be ideal for her. In such an environment, she can find the confidence and comfort she needs to fully come into her own. Previous pet ownership is a must and training experience is a plus!
Intelligence is one of Leela's strong suits, and she's eager to learn. She knows basic commands like 'sit' and 'down' and is an excellent candidate for further training. We've enrolled her in an intensive 3-week board and train program starting mid-December, where she'll hone her skills and manners. In early January Leela will be all trained-up and ready for her forever home! Her adoption will also include five follow-up training sessions with her trainer to ensure her continued progress.

Leela will be completing her training program in NJ Dec 15 - Jan 6 and our rescue will transport Leela to her forever home should it be in another state!
With all of our rescues, we recommend a home with children ages 10 years and older.
