LeeLoo In Maine RC's Story
Estimated DOB. 10.20.20

Update from Leeloo's foster mom 5/27/26; Leeloo reaches a new milestone everyday. Shes the best behaved dog Ive ever fostered.
Shes my shadow.

When my family was here this past W/E for a birthday party, she came out from under the bed on her own.

As long as everyone kept their distance, she wasn't afraid.

Sleeping, bathroom duty, eating all are going well.

Loves the deck as long as Im out there with her. Loves her yard as long as Im out there with her.

Slowly shes gaining trust.

My foster mom says I should tell you a little about myself. Im a 5 yr old, 65-pound girl with wiry brown and gray fur, fancy white-tipped toes, and a very stylish little mohawk and eyebrows. Personally, I think the eyebrows are my best featurethey help me perfect my sweet, hopeful puppy eyes.

Im what humans call a Velcro dog, which basically means if youre my person... I stick with you. Everywhere. If you walk to the kitchen, Ill come supervise. If you sit on the couch, Ill be right there ready to snuggle. If you go to the bathroom... well... I hope you dont mind company.

Im a quiet girl and pretty low energy. I dont bark much, Im house trained, crate trained, and I walk nicely on a leash. The vet people said I was an excellent patient too (which I think deserves extra treats, but my foster mom says thats not how it works).

Ill be honest with you though... Im still a little shy. Something happened in my past that made the world feel a bit scary sometimes. Loud noises and busy houses can make me nervous, and I may need you to be patient while I learn that everything is okay again.

But heres the good news:
Once I trust you, I love you with my whole heart.

Ill sit near you with my little feet splayed out in the most comfortable way possible. Ill wag my tail and give you my shy smile. Ill quietly follow you around the house just to make sure youre not lonely.

I get along fine with other dogs and even cats. I mostly mind my own business, but Im happy to share my space with polite furry friends. Kids are okay too, but Id prefer a calmer home with older kids who understand that Im still building my confidence.

What Im really hoping for is a peaceful home, a cozy couch, and a person who doesnt mind a loyal shadow following them around.

My foster mom says that watching a shy dog like me blossom is one of the most special things in the world. I think she might be right.

Maybe that person could be you.

Love,

Leeloo

Leeloo prefers a quieter home, no small children, teenagers are okay, she prefers to stay away from loud people. Getting along nicely with foster's dog savvy cat, house trained, but please expect accidents until the new schedule is set and she does well in a crate for short periods of time, but prefers a soft chair or couch.

YOUR ADOPTION FEE COVERS: Transport to Maine, age specific vaccinations, Health certificate, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm/lyme/ehrlichia test, worming & martingale collar.

Adoption fees:
Through 6 months of age $450;
7 months to through 5 years $400;
6 years and under 9 years $325: bonded pairs are $500;
9 years and older $250: bonded pairs are $300

This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning Pending Adoption. This dog is in foster care locally, ONLY if Maine is listed next to the dogs name; otherwise, the dog is still waiting with our partner rescue for an adoption or foster home in New England.

All dogs have a current Health Certificate for transport. All imported dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to getting on transport.ve had annual heartworm tests and are on heartworm preventative.

FOR PUPPIES: PLEASE READ!!
Homes considering Puppies must be prepared for:
Flexible Schedules for Potty Training. Puppies can only hold urine for one hour per month of age. Crate Training for the next 10 months to keep them safe from chewing on everything in your home. Supervision with Children and Obedience training.
Socialization; both with new people, children and other dogs outside of the home.
Homes that want a well behaved dog, must be prepared to put the time, effort and costs associated to train a puppy. Well behaved dogs are not born, they are trained! Please do not apply for a puppy if you cannot or do not have the time for a puppy.

Applications can be found at: www.almosthomerescue.net
