Leah's Story

? FOSTER or Foster to Adopt NEEDED for Leah ?
We’re looking for a patient and understanding foster (or foster-to-adopt!) for our sweet girl Leah.

Leah is a petite 30 lb Labrador mix who was found abandoned in a Dayton park—likely with her sisters Luna and Lizzy, who are also with Hearts of Paws Trap and Rescue . She initially ended up in the shelter, but because she was so fearful and shut down, she was deemed unadoptable and at risk. That’s when we stepped in and pulled her.

Leah has made some progress, but she still needs a safe and calm home where someone can show her what love and security truly feel like. Right now, she’s in a foster home with many dogs, which makes it harder for her to be approachable by humans, because the dogs are her safety net. Leah adores other dogs! What Leah really needs is a home with just one or two confident, friendly dogs who can help guide her and show her the ropes.

? A securely fenced yard (6 ft) is a must—Leah will not walk on a leash and will freeze in fear, so leash walks aren’t an option at this time.

We know this is a big ask—but we also know that the right person is out there. Someone who understands that watching a fearful dog blossom is one of the most beautiful and rewarding experiences in rescue.

Her sister Luna is proof—thanks to an amazing foster, she’s now thriving and will be adopted next week. ?? Now it’s Leah’s turn, and we will also be looking for the same kind of foster for Lizzy.

Can you be that person for Leah?
Apply to foster here: https://forms.gle/Y4MCHGodWHaodywh7

Let’s help this girl learn what it means to be safe, loved, and in a real home. ?
