Larkin's Story

*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT ***

Meet Larkin! She is currently enrolled in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and she is almost ready to show off her new skills! Her new abilities include 'sit', 'down', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent.

Larkin is described as a gentle and sweet gal who aims to please. She is always up to meeting new human friends and hasn't met a person she didn't like. When she's done playing, she's all for snuggling with her people.

She does well with other dogs and her recall is impeccable. She doesn't always love to be home alone, but with patience and practice she's been getting better. One thing Larkin loves? Water! She's a water dog. She enjoys playing in her water dish, so you may have to keep it full for her!

Larkin has some pretty decent hops and has gracefully hopped a 3-4' fence before. She'll need a secure 6' fence in her new home. Before she went to PACK she lived with cats in her foster home. She didn't seem to bug them. We believe she can successfully live with them.

If you're looking for a gentle loving companion who will keep you laughing and who's a great snuggle buddy, Larkin may be for you. She'll graduate towards the middle of February. Apply to meet her today!

Black Dog Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
BDAR considers pet adoption to be a privilege and that good pet owners can demonstrate a history of responsible practices. Our basic requirements are as follows: Adopters must be at least 18 years of age Adopters’ current pets must be current on their rabies vaccination per local ordinances Adopters must be able to provide a current veterinary reference if they own other pets or have recently owned pets If the adopter rents, they must be able to provide a landlord reference stating that pets are allowed on the property Adopter cannot intend for the animal to be kept as an outdoor only pet, or for the primary mode of containment to be tethering Adopters must be a good match for the animal in question as determined by our adoption counselors Our adoption fees includes spay or neuter, current age appropriate vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, a free first vet exam, and 30 free days of pet health insurance. A note about our adoption fees: BDAR utilizes a variable pricing structure for all of its adoptable animals. Adoption fees are determined based on an animal's perceived desirability, age, training or medical investment, and the length of time they have been available for adoption. Some animals are priced higher than others. These animals' adoption fees provide a legacy gift for others in the program who may need additional resources in order to get the same chance in a forever home.
