Lara's Story

Lara is a stately older girl who arrived at our shelter having traveled a long way from home. Unsure and confused at first, she has grown more relaxed and comfortable with the shelter routine. She enjoys spending time with the staff and the company of other dogs. She really likes hanging out in the shelter lobby and greeting visitors.

We believe that Lara is at least 7 years old, but she is strong, energetic, and playful. She weighs about 65 pounds. She should probably go to a home without cats.

Lara has proven that she will bond with and stand by those who are kind to her. She is definitely ready to take her place as a loyal, steady companion in a loving home. Come meet Lara!

Thank you for considering Lara and supporting our small, rural animal shelter. Powell County Animal Shelter 's Adoption Policy
We have an application form that gives us information about potential adopters' homes and family situations. This helps us to determine if an animal will be safe in their new environment, and if the new owner would be willing and financially able to care for a new pet and to commit to keeping it for the span of its natural life. In addition to logistical and practical questions, we encourage potential owners to think about how they will live daily with a new pet, and to understand what a lifelong commitment to a pet means.
