Lambert's Story
Name: Lambert?
Age: 2 years old?
Gender: Male?
Breed: Pit mix?
Weight: 80 pounds?
Crate trained: Yes?
Potty trained: Yes?
Dog friendly: Yes
Cat tolerant: Unknown?
Kid friendly: Yes, but older kids due to his size?
Energy level: Medium to high

Lambert is just a big goof, who loves being around people. He’s got the cutest worried face with all this wrinkles, and stunning black eyeliner that frames his adorable face. He’s an incredibly sweet dog that will capture your heart the moment you meet him. He melts into you if you rub his ears and behind his jaw – the firmer the better, and he politely tells you when he’s had his fill of scratches.

Lambert clearly doesn’t have a great sense of his size, as he often acts like a much smaller dog. Lambert doesn’t believe in personal space and insists he’s a tiny pup who can walk or lay on top of you when you’re sitting on the couch. So, if you’re looking for a large, brown, roughly 80-pound weighted blanket, he’s definitely your guy. And since he’s a big guy who just wants to be as close to you as possible, it’s recommended that any human siblings be older, as he sometimes likes to bulldoze into things and people.

When not outside frolicking in the back yard, chasing squirrels, bunnies and birds, and taking in the neighborhood sounds, Lambert enjoys playing with squeaky toys and balls, watching animals on TV, and wrestling with his foster sister. While he enjoys other dogs, Lambert would do best in a home with another active, younger dog his size. He’s a young pup still, so he does need a good amount of exercise. While we’re still working on walking properly on a leash, playing fetch in the back yard, running around and wrestling with another pup, seems to get most of his energy out. It appears that he likely wasn’t walked very often in his previous life, so his leash manners could use some work.
He’s incredibly smart and highly treat motivated so he learns quickly. He already knows sit, down, paw, come, stay, drop it and outside.

However, his attention follows the hierarchy of treats > squirrels/bunnies > commands, so treats are the way to his heart. He waits politely for his food to be prepared and sits before his bowl is put into its place. He’s very curious and likes to know what’s happening around him, whether checking out what you’re cooking for dinner to following you from room to room, he’s always be your side.

Lambert would do best in a home where he is not left alone very often as he can get a little restless and worried when you’re not around, so his ideal family would be someone who is retired or works from home, or is simply home often.

If you're interested in meeting Lambert, please fill out an application at the link below.

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
