Lady Squirrel's Story

Lady Squirrel was owned in south Texas and her owners chopped her ears off but never cared enough to have her spayed or vaccinated. They bred her again and again and sold her puppies but never took her to the vet. Then the neighbors told us the people moved out of the house and left her outside. No food. No water. No shelter. So of course she ended up pregnant because of all the loose in tact street dogs in Texas. She had her puppies near the yard in a drainage pipe. They were only a week or so old and the rain was coming. They would have all drowned. A local rescuer went there at almost midnight one evening and we said we would take them under the rescue.
Lady Squirrel was an amazing mama. And she is so loving and sweet to everyone she meets. Her cropped ears make her look tough but it’s so far from the truth. She is TOUGH in spirit. Because she’s fighting for the beautiful life she deserves. She of course ended up testing positive for heartworm but we are treating it and she will SHINE like the sun.
She is fostered in Hopeville CT with dogs of various sizes and ages and she loves them all. There is also a 4 year old child in the home and she loves her too.
We are accepting applications for her now.

ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE or will be SPAYED OR NEUTERED.

The Chasing Sunshine Dog Rescue adoption donation is $620.00. This includes: spay/neuter (at our vet), vaccines (dhpp, bordetella, rabies), microchip, health certificate, fecal test and our dogs are on preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworm.

Out of state adopters must also pay for an interstate health certificate to their state. (This is typically around $75.00. Adopter will pay actual cost.)

To apply to adopt one of our dogs fill out our adoption application at this link:
https://form.jotform.com/ChasingSunshine/Chasing-Sunshine-Adoption-App

For questions email: chasingsunshinedogrescue@gmail.com
Check out our website at www.chasingsunshinedogrescue.org
We are also on Facebook, TikTok & Instagram.
