Lady Mae's Story

Lady Mae is an approximately 3-year-old pit bull mix with a powerful presence, a tender heart, and a story of survival written all over her. She came from a severe neglect situation, arriving emaciated and still nursing puppies. In just under a month in foster care, she has gained weight, confidence, and a deep attachment to her person.

At home, Lady Mae is affectionate, playful, and delightfully goofy. She loves toys (and proudly hoards them in one special stash), does full somersaults on the couch, and is a serious cuddle bug once she trusts you. She entertains herself well, has good house manners, and aside from one houseplant incident, has not been destructive. She walks nicely on leash, knows “sit,” and settles quietly in her kennel with only brief, occasional whining.

Lady Mae is alert and will bark when someone new arrives, but she warms up quickly and enjoys attention. She gets joyful morning zoomies and clearly longs for space to run - ideally a large, securely fenced area where she can stretch out and feel free.

Perhaps because of her past, Lady Mae does not tolerate other dogs in her space. While she may coexist calmly with another dog at a distance, we recommend she be the only pet in the home. Lady Mae is still learning boundaries and does not always realize how big and strong she is. Her play can be exuberant and clumsy, so a home without small children is recommended. Lady Mae is loyal, loving, and eager to bond. She more than deserves knowledgeable guardians who are confident, consistent, and committed to help her thrive.

Thank you for considering an OTAT-WTX rescue! All pets are living in foster homes, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on core vaccines.

If you are interested in adopting, or for more information, please visit our website: https://otatwtx.org/how-to-adopt
