Meet Laccey
Meet Lacey!
Lacey is a 3 year old spayed pitbull that came into a local shelter as a stray severely malnourished and scared. She was able to come out of her shell so much with encouragement and field trips from the staff and volunteers.
She loves to greet people and especially small dogs. She does very well on a leash if you manage her arousal level and just recall her with "come" cue if she starts to pull.
Because of her time on the streets and possible abuse, she will need someone who understands resource guarding and continue the training being done with her in foster care with food, toys, and people, such as: leave it, drop it, take it, manage arousal, form a bond with her first and she is very eager to please her handler and family. She is also eating from a slow feeder several times a day and is almost at a healthy weight again. Before the slow feeder she would put the whole portion of food in her mouth and then start chewing. ?
She has learned doorway boundaries with the cues: back, wait, OK.
She loves to play tug and is also a way we incorporate training the drop it and take it.
She knows so many cues: Come, Nice to meet you (shake), sit, stay, down, wait, back, up, down, leave it take it, drop it, cuddle, off, look at me, etc.
She is also happy to stay home and will not chew up stuff. She rarely barks and doesn't dig in the yard. She is potty trained and doggy door trained. She is the sweetest most beautiful girl who craves love and a safe home and family of her own. Cats and small kids not recommended.
