Kyo's Story

Kyo is a very hard of hearing mixed breed senior gentleman, estimated to be 10-12 years old. We do not know his breed, but see a little Labrador, Sharpei (those cute ears!), Terrier, and Pitbull in him. He’s smaller than he looks: medium-sized around 35-38 pounds.

Kyo was found roaming the streets in Louisiana and brought to a high kill shelter. This guy was in very rough shape: his body score was 2/9, severely underweight. He was also suffering from worms, fleas, a hernia and horrific teeth.

He was neutered and the hernia was fixed, and he was treated for worms and fleas. HRU decided to save his life and he was in a short term foster home until we had him transported north to New Jersey.

Kyo is now settled in a NJ foster home and gets along with all dogs, kids, and people he meets. He is super sweet, gentle and loves meal times.

Kyo is very hard of hearing, but when he sees you he responds lovingly. He’s housebroken as long as he gets a potty break every 8 hours or so during the day. Overnight he’s good throughout.

He would make a perfect companion to any household that doesn’t walk too far. He walks good on the leash as well.

The only thing he hasn’t figured out yet is the doggy door. So I just open the door for him. ?

Kyo has a slight heart murmur, not uncommon in seniors and former starvation cases.

He will soon undergo his dental where they will have to pull some teeth since his teeth are very bad. He is currently on a normal diet of dry food. He loves all food and treats and has no problems chewing his food well.

This very loving boy deserves a home to call his own in his golden years where he never has to worry about kill shelters or the streets again.

We are currently considering home offers! He will be available after he recovers for his dental surgery, by mid-January 2024.
