She was adopted from our shelter last fall and while the adopters love her, they feel her best life is with someone who is around more with a house/fenced yard and a dog friend for her to play with vs. an apartment. <br/><br/>Kylie has daily medications for her thyroid and has has had one seizure in March, 2025. She has seen a vet who prescribed some pills, total anticipated vet bill is around $60/mo. Additional owner notes below: <br/><br/>"We love her so much and really want to keep her until she goes to a better home. She is really sweet and friendly and so lovable, but we just can’t give her the best life in our current circumstances. <br/><br/>-The main thing is that she has a ton of energy so she really needs another well-mannered dog to play with, and she needs to live in a house with a completely fenced-in yard.<br/><br/>-She is so sweet. She loves to cuddle! So much so that she will get up on the couch or bed with you even if there isn’t enough room for her! She is really friendly to all people that she meets. She loves attention, especially belly rubs! She does occasionally bark at people, but she isn’t aggressive.<br/><br/>-We took her to the vet and learned that she has hypothyroidism. We have been giving her medicine for it twice daily, and it costs about $20/month from our vet, so it’s totally manageable.<br/><br/>-She is very reactive to other dogs, but she isn’t necessarily aggressive. When she has been up close with other dogs, she has been friendly, and she seems to love to play and chase. But she barks and jumps/lunges whenever she sees or hears another dog, and she gets very worked up, and it often takes 30 minutes or more for her to calm down once we get her back inside. That makes it really hard to take her out to potty or for a walk, and causes chaos when a dog walks by or barks in the hallway. I think living with another dog who has good manners might help her calm down about seeing/hearing other dogs, and in general she has a ton of energy so living with another dog would be a great way for her to get enough exercise. We do several walks per day and it still isn’t enough to get all her energy out.<br/><br/>-She doesn’t like to be left alone. She whines and howls whenever we leave her alone, but she calms herself down after 20-30 minutes. Even if one of us is giving her attention, she will sometimes whine or bark if the other one of us goes into the other room. That’s why I think she would do best with someone who will be home most of the time, but she also does fine in the kennel.<br/><br/>-She is not aggressive towards our cat, but she has chased her away from food (both her dog food and the cat’s own food). She doesn’t seem overly interested in the cat and I don’t think she would hurt the cat, but she is a little bit rough with her and the cat doesn’t like it. So I think she could potentially go to a home with cats, but might do best without cats.<br/><br/>-She is not a chewer! She occasionally chews on the bone we got her, but she has never chewed on furniture, shoes, remotes, or anything other than her bone or a ball!<br/><br/>-She gets into the garbage can and onto the counters. We got a garbage can that locks and we have to be very careful not to leave any food on the counters because she will get it!"
