Kratos's Story

Hi, my name is Kratos! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Outgoing, energetic, bouncy, silly, ruff around the edges but a good boy at heart!
-Can Live with Kids: May be okay with sturdy, dog-savvy kids ages 12+ (up to counselor's discretion)
-Can Live with Cats: Kratos has reportedly lived with cats but was known to chase them. He would do best with confident and dog-savvy cats. Not a good match for shy/fearful cats.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Kratos could possibly live with a tolerant and equally high energy dog pending an initial introduction done here at WHS. He may prefer female dogs, and would not be a good match for small or senior dogs.
-Can do Apartment Living: No
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, a basic obedience course
-Energy Level: High
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter

Additional Information: Kratos is a young dog (only 7 months old!) who was surrendered to the shelter because of housing issues. He is a people-oriented and affectionate dog, but sometimes he can be a bit of a handful. He is a puppy, after all. Kratos will benefit greatly from a predictable routine and consistent positive reinforcement based training. Luckily he's extremely treat-motivated and eager to please, which will hopefully make training a whole lot easier. Kratos would do best with a patient, dog-experienced person who has the time to dedicate to his training. Being less than a year old, Kratos is going to need someone who is home often (i.e., he cannot be left alone 8+ hours a day) and can give him the attention he needs. Like any puppy, Kratos is a high energy, bouncy, silly dog who is going to need lots of exercise AND mental stimulation to keep him occupied. His perfect match is an active and outdoorsy person who wants to bring him along on all their adventures!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
