Koopa Troopa's Story

Meet Koopa Troopa!
Breed: Siberian Husky
Gender: Spayed Female
Age/DOB: 7/19/2021
Weight: 50~ lbs
Coat: Red and white with bright, soulful eyes
Kids: YES
Dogs: Selective at home, but non reactive in public
Cats: OK if properly introduced and well socialized
Small Animals: NO
Special Needs: High Maintenance, Experience with working breeds and dogs

Koopa Troopa is a stunning, playful, and affectionate husky who is ready to find her forever home after being rescued in 2023 from a tragically abusive home. With her beautiful red and white coat and boundless love, she turns heads and doles out kisses wherever she goes. She loves adventures and thrives on activities that keep her active and engaged. Koopa is a water dog who loves to play in pools filled with ice and water or the sprinkler. She loves mud puddles when it rains, you've been warned LOL.

Koopa Troopa is equally happy to snuggle in bed all day- she especially loves Moana and might be the laziest husky ever honestly. She adores belly rubs, long walks, and tough chew toys. With her intelligence and eagerness to please, she’d excel in advanced training, with a job, or agility activities. We take her to several events as one of our ambassadors, she loves to meet people and is a fan favorite at our vet office and Geek and Grub Market.

Koopa Troopa’s Ideal Home
- Active Lifestyle: A family or individual who loves adventures or at least willing to go on daily long walks would be the perfect match for Koopa Troopa.
- Secure Yard: She’s a typical husky who loves to roam, so a secure yard is a must. She must be supervised at all times or leashed.
- No Small Animals: Like many huskies, she has a prey drive and would do best in a home without access to small pets.
- Companionship: She’s social and would love love a friend to play with OR absolutely eat up being the center of attention in her new home.
- Someone Knowledgeable or willing to learn about working dog breeds.
- MUST be vigilant and knowledgeable or willing to learn about PICA and Foreign bodies.

What You Need to Know:
- Koopa Troopa is spayed, fully vaccinated, UTD on FTHW prevention, HW- and microchipped. She is in good health and ready to start her new adventure.
- Koopa was extensively abused for over a year prior to coming to rescue. As a result, she had significant muscular, skeletal, and neurological damage we've worked to address.
- During her time with us it has been determined that Koopa has PICA and cannot be unsupervised out of the crate as she will put ANYTHING into her mouth and eat it- she is especially fond of fabric. As a result, she has a stainless steel crate bottom and can only have her stainless steel water bowl and LARGE nylabone or approved treat dispenser in it when unsupervised. No collars, toys, blankets, or ANYTHING in the crate and no movable objects within 3 feet.
- Koopa has received a scope and 2 foreign body surgeries in the last two years in addition to a spay. At her last foreign body surgery, the DVM discussed a serious concern for the scar tissue and integrity of her abdominal wall if she needs another FB surgery.
- Koopa is a great dog in public, she is comfortable at and attends many events with us as an ambassador. She loves all people and ignores most animals. However, at home she is dog selective.
- Koopa has sensitivity on her neck and hips from her prior abuse.
- Koopa has undergone fast kill heartworm treatment, received physical therapy, and dog ROLFing.
- Koopa eats Purina Sensitive Skin & Stomach food with eggs + shell and gets joint and skin supplements daily.

Why Koopa Troopa?
Koopa Troopa is not just a pretty face with a tragic past; she’s a brilliant, loving companion who will bring joy, energy, and loyalty to her forever family.

Are You Her Perfect Match?
If Koopa Troopa sounds like the perfect fit for you or you have questions, please fill out our adoption application here: https://linktr.ee/rrradoptions

Rainbow Rescue & Retreat
(910) 691 - 3859 text only
rainbowrescueandretreat@gmail.com
https://linktr.ee/rainbowrescueandretreat

Let’s make this the year Koopa Troopa finds her happily ever after!

Rainbow Rescue & Retreat's Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in adopting with Rainbow Rescue & Retreat! Our goal is to match our rescues with the right loving homes. As such, we do not process adoptions on a "first available" basis. During this process we ask questions, perform a home visit, and meet & greet to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone involved. There are many factors to take into consideration before adopting an animal. Falling in love with an adorable pet is easy, but it is a big commitment to welcome them into your home and life. 1.) Application: Complete the appropriate adoption application for the animal you are interested in in its entirety. 2.) Screening: Upon receipt of the application we will check all references- personal, veterinary, and the appropriate leasing office/landlord. Please be sure to notify your references we will be contacting them. 3.) Home Visit / Meet & Greet: If references meet standards, we will schedule a home visit to verify the home is a right fit for the animal. Afterwards, a meet-and-greet is scheduled with the potential adopter and their other pet(s). For individuals 25 miles or more from the foster, a $20 fee is required to cover transportation expenses. 4.) Approval: Once the application is approved, the Adoption Agreement must be completed with Verification of Government Issued Photo Identification. 5.) Payment: The adoption fee is due at the time of transferal of ownership. Check-ins occurs two weeks after adoption. Vet checks occur periodically after adoption. FEES: All dogs and cats are up-to-date on vaccinations and flea/tick treatment, wormed, microchipped, and spayed/neutered. Note: If the pet is too young for a spay/neuter, your adoption fee covers the cost of the procedure for when your animal is of age. You will be required to bring cat/dog to our vet for this procedure. This can be done as early as 3 months. We schedule the spay/neuter before the adoption agreement is signed. The adoption is not complete until the animal has been spayed/neutered. Any kitten/puppy not altered by the age of 6 months, must have a vet statement explaining the reason for delay. Any unaltered kitten/puppy must be returned and adoption will not be finalized at six months, unless there is a valid medical reason for delay.) Dogs: $200, Unless otherwise Listed Cats: $150, Unless otherwise Listed Other Small Animals: Please Inquire individually via our Contact Form as small and exotic animals have different requirements.
