Kono is a once in a lifetime dog. You read that correctly, and we promise you: we are not exaggerating.

Kono's dedicated foster describes Kono as "a dream, an extremely sweet dog, and she adapts to different styles and attitudes of dogs very well!" Adaptable with senior and young dogs, Kono can seamlessly go from being extremely gentle with older dogs who she knows need a more sensitive touch, to playing enthusiastically with a young, energetic, boundary-testing Malinois. She has lived and interacted with small and large dogs of varying breeds and has done well across the board! She is such a well-balanced, lovely dog, we are truly in awe that she is still available for adoption.

Kono's ideal home is one with a yard, fellow animal friends, and an active human friend (or friends!) who's dedicated to keeping Kono happy and healthy, as she is very allergy-prone. While Kono has not been officially tested with children, we anticipate her even-tempered and balanced nature would work fine with a larger adoptive family home.

When Kono first came to RGR, her skin was a nightmare, truly. Her fosters spent months trying different diets, taking Kono to one vet visit after another for various injections, and finding the balance between medicated and moisturizing baths, all in an effort to get Kono some relief. Thanks to her incredible foster family and veterinary team, Kono's skin and coat are finally looking healthy, and she is finally experiencing some relief from--we're assuming up to--a lifetime of discomfort. We breathe easier with Kono, and have promised her that we will find someone who can continue on with the special treatments she needs that have set the standard for her new quality of life, a quality of life we will not compromise on!

Kono will require a special raw diet, monthly injections, and regular bathing for the rest of her life. Normally, we would think these were a big ask for a new adoptive home. But Kono is special - she brings such a calm and loving energy wherever she goes, and has nothing but love to give humans and canines alike. So we feel like her new adoptive family will be able to see that her allergic sensitivities are just a small hiccup to address in a lifetime of loyalty and warmth. It may sound cliche, but she is worth every extra iota of energy. She is so special, and we are so excited for her to find her people. But we're going to hold out for only the best of the best for...well, the best of the best!
