Kona's Story

Kona is around a year old, we suspect. ( post date May 2026) he was pulled from the Stockton Shelter in CA the day before he was going to be euthanized.

Kona is a remarkable young pup.
This friendly, playful boy is always up for an adventure and will be your loyal companion through thick and thin. With his athletic build and curious mind, he's eager to explore the world and make new friends, both human and canine.

Kona is social. He has been exposed to so many things but not cats or farm animals yet. We will be exposing him soon. He lives with small, medium and large dogs. He loves them all. He takes corrections from the little dogs well.

He rides in the car perfectly. Kona is eager and excited, (since he is still working on leash reactivity or over excitement because he wants to play) Hel does some resource guarding with his special treats, but its manageable even in a multi dog home. He can be protective of his family. He will alert bark when someone knocks so we are working on socialization and the front door. His leash manners are on point. See video posted. He will do best in a home where rules and boundaries are set and consistently enforced. Most working breeds need this structure.

Kona is a quick learner and a bit of a jester, always ready to make you smile with his silly antics. He is high energy but has learned how to settle so his energy is balanced. And getting more so as he matures.

He is on the lookout for his forever family, a pack to call his own, where he can be the loving and devoted friend that he was always meant to be. Could that family be yours?

Resilient Dog Rescue 's Adoption Policy
Our multi-step adoption process includes an application, meet and greet, animal introductions when applicable, and a home check. We highly value the time and effort put into adoption applications, and encourage thorough, thoughtful responses as this is our primary avenue for getting to know your family. With that in mind, please be aware that applications with excessive blank or one-word responses may not be considered. Animal introductions will be done for each pet currently living in the household. While we are not here to judge your lifestyles, we also conduct home checks to ensure that the household and backyard will be a safe living environment for a SacRDR dog. The Declaration page of your Homeowners Insurance policy or an approval letter from your landlord must be submitted with your adoption application; these documents are required to ensure that your HOI or landlord covers/accepts the breed you are applying to adopt. If you have any additional questions, please email adopt@sacrdr.org.
